Grant Disbursement Process
- Grant Recommendation Form is received and NNJCF staff performs due diligence.Once NNJCF receives a grant recommendation from the Fund Advisor, staff reviews the request to:
- Confirm the IRS status and evaluate the financial health and stability of the 501c3 organization.
- Ensure the requested amount is available for disbursement and that the purpose of the grant is charitable, meets the purpose of the Fund, and that no personal benefit is associated with the grant.
- Community Foundation Board approves grant recommendation.
After the staff completes its due diligence, grant recommendations are presented to the Board of Directors for approval on a rolling basis. - Grant disbursements are processed and sent.
Once Board approves the grant, NNJCF notifies the 501c3 organization grant recipient, which completes a Grant Notification Form recognizing the grant. After receipt of this signed form, NNJCF processes and sends grant checks and notifies fund advisors of the distribution. - Communication with grant recipients
Grant disbursements are sent to the grant recipient with the name of the fund and any special designation indicated on the check. They also receive a letter with details on how the funds are allowed to be used and proper forms of recognition.
