Bereaved Youngsters to be Supported by Grant to Camp

The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation’s The DeAnna Stark Pasciuto Memorial Fund awarded a grant of $2,000 to Atlantic Visiting Nurse of Morristown, New Jersey.  The grant supports bereaved youngsters attending Camp Clover. Based in Hackensack, New Jersey, the NNJCF concentrates on education, public health, civic engagement, arts, philanthropy, and the environment.

The Fund remembers DeAnna Stark Pasciuto and contributes to qualified charitable organizations.  The Fund supports cancer research, families touched by cancer, and scholarships for female student-athletes looking to pursue medical careers. “I chose this organization because it serves children, like my own, whom have lost a parent.  The camp offers them the opportunity to meet and connect with children in similar circumstances, while also bringing grieving families together.  I felt the camp represents everything the Fund stands for and directly connects with both our mission and my late wife’s giving and caring nature,” said Michael Pasciuto, husband of the late DeAnna Stark Pasciuto and the Fund’s advisor.

Philanthropic Services

For 23 years, the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation has served the state.  The NNJCF brings people and organizations together to address pressing issues and needs in the region. The NNJCF offers a comprehensive menu of philanthropic opportunities. The Foundation provides donors with flexible, efficient, and tax-effective ways to ensure their charitable giving has maximum impact.  This is achieved through various types of funds, tax-saving annuities, and trust options.

“Over the past two years, the number of donor advised funds has grown significantly nationwide. Their popularity comes from the good they can do through grantmaking, especially in times of crisis like the pandemic.  They also provide  worthwhile tax benefits. Donors can receive an initial tax deduction upon establishing the fund and enjoy tax-free growth.  The initial tax deduction also presents donors with the option of charitable ‘bunching’ multiple years’ worth of donations into a fund. They can itemize deductions for that year,” said Danielle De Laurentis, Associate Director, Northern New Jersey Community Foundation.

Founded in 1998, the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation focuses primarily on six areas.  These focus areas include civic engagement, education, public health, the environment, philanthropy, and the arts.  The NNJCF works with local governments, school districts, and businesses.  The Foundation also works with non-profit organizations, and citizen groups in Northern New Jersey to improve community life. The Foundation’s partners identify and resolve regional problems and opportunities by talking and learning from each other and sharing ideas, best practices, services, and resources.
